Rakesh Pai

After receiving my B. Tech in Computer Science from REC Calicut, I began working as a programmer and focused on mobile development for the first four years of my career. My desire to learn about finance and public market investing led me to pursue an MBA at IIM Calcutta.

I was offered a typical, well-paying job at IIM Calcutta, but after a few months I became disillusioned with the lack of stimulating work. I knew Zerin from my time at REC Calicut, and in 2009, during a conversation, he invited me to join the team. Given the nature of the work and the exciting environment at IndigoEdge, I accepted. In my eleven years as an investment banker, I have had the opportunity to work with a range of businesses and create lasting impact when and where it truly matters in an organization’s life cycle.

I sleep quite well actually.

I respect and have been inspired by many athletes, including Rahul Dravid, Rafael Nadal, and Andre Agassi. However, if I had to choose just one, it would be Tim Duncan because even though he was one of the greatest power forwards to ever play basketball in an era of alpha-male superstars, he remained humble, put the team first, and never stopped learning and growing, even in the latter stages of his career.

I cherish the connections I make with our client’s founding teams and early-stage employees, and the prospect of some of these organizations growing into significant, prosperous enterprises is extremely exciting.

IndigoEdge brings out the absolute best in team members. There isn’t a single organization that I could have developed and contributed to as much as I have had the opportunity to at IndigoEdge. Unless you are starting on your own, it is quite difficult to be thrilled about working somewhere else once you start here!

Whenever I can, I like to spend time with my child. I adore football and devote a lot of time to watching the sport, occasionally finding time to play as well. I have travelled across the world to see the last several Football World Cups live!
